Lifepoint Church Gather Connect Serve in Harrisburg PA

As Lead Pastor of LifePoint Church Harrisburg PA, I am thankful to be part of a church that welcomes people, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey. Together we are a community of believers. What does the word “community” mean? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The Bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers. We have no interest in making people more religious. Jesus didn’t come to make us more religious. Instead, we believe the church can and should be a place where people are genuinely loved, accepted for who they are, connected in meaningful relationships, and invited to deeper faith. On Sunday, August 30th, from 1 to 3 PM, Elaine Shenk from Matters of the Heart Counseling will be leading a trauma-informed training here at LifePoint, in our auditorium, covering such topics as: How trauma impacts brain development; What it looks like in children; Effective responses for challenging behaviors; and How to stop reacting to behavior, and, instead, respond to the true need.

This is a wonderful and important training for not only our LifePoint Kidz volunteers, but also parents, grandparents, and anyone who interacts with children. Even though the focus is on helping kids in the church who have experienced trauma, Elaine's strategies and techniques are beneficial for helping any child in any location!
